Book Club

Join Ohev Sholom's monthly book club for lively discussion of a variety of novels, short stories, memoirs, and more. All are welcome.

All meetings will take place in the Ohev library at 7:30p unless otherwise noted. For more information about the book club, please contact  Nina Tarley.

September 22: “The Last Palace” by Norman Eisen. It’s a historical novel about Europe’s turbulent century in five lives and one legendary house in Prague. Our moderator will be David Epstein. Not only David will be able to share with us his thoughts, but, since he knows the author personally, he might offer us some very interesting insights. The book is available on Amazon ($15) and at the library.

October 27: “Catch-67” by Micah Goodman. Some of you might remember that he spoke at Ohev a few months ago. This book presents ideological and historical reasons for the dialogue that is raging currently in Israel, and offers a way to heal the rifts. Our moderator will be Jeff Mendelsohn. The book is available on Amazon ($16) and at the library.

November 17: “Waking Lions” by Ayelet Gundar-Goshen. A novel by an Israeli author that raises a lot of interesting ethical and moral questions. Moderator TBD. The book is available on Amazon ($10) and at the library.

December 15: “In The Image” a novel by Dara Horn, moderated by Nancy Switkes and Deborah Kopp. The book is available on Amazon ($20) and at the library.
