Siddur Dedication Fundraiser

December 1, 2017

Dear Congregants:

Later this month, our Congregation will adopt a new siddur, the Koren Sacks Siddur for Shabbat and Chagim. The new siddur combines a Shabbat Siddur and Machzor in one volume. It features all prayers recited for Shabbat, Festivals (Pesach, Shavuot, Sukkot) and Shabbat Chol Hamoed with translation and commentary by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. This Siddur-Machzor also includes all Torah, Haftarah, and Megilla readings for the Chagim (Shir HaShirim, Ruth, Kohelet and Esther), and it includes prayers for Yom Haatzmaut, which were omitted from our current siddur.

Many of our current siddurim have been failing prematurely. The shul successfully negotiated with Koren to obtain replacement siddurim at a minimal cost (less than the cost to repair the damaged books).

This new siddur presents an exciting new opportunity to help reach our $100,000 end of year fundraising goal. Thanks to the generosity of several individuals and families and to incentivize communal participation, we are reducing the cost to dedicate a siddur (regularly $100) to $50 for the month of December! We hope that you will consider dedicating one or more of the new Siddurim in honor of happy occasions and in memory of loved ones. Please fill out the form below to dedicate today or call 202.882.7225.

If you are interested in taking home an older Koren siddur to add to your home library, we will have a table of free available copies that you are welcome to take with you after services at a date to be announced. One per family please. (We plan to retain a limited number of the older Koren siddurim for those who still prefer to use it.)

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to inaugurating the Siddur and having it make our davening experience even more meaningful.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld
